The whole week was great. We got to spend some time with my family and our families got to meet and get to know eachother. Everyone arrived on Wednesday and we had a huge family dinner at Susan's restaurant, Caramba, in Banff. On Thursday the girls all went for pedicures in the morning and the boys went to Calgary to pick up their tux's. Then Thursday afternoon Travis took all the kids to the firehall to see the trucks. That was probably one of the highlights of the entire week. Sophie is a firefighter in the making.
Thursday evening Travis's parents hosted a BBQ for all the family. It was great that everyone had a chance to meet before the wedding. Friday was a busy day of final preparations. We were all at Sue's bright and early doing all the centerpieces and flower arrangements. It took a little while to get them perfect but once we had one under our belts we went into prodcution mode and they were done. Everything for the reception was transported to the golf club while Sue, Niki and I checked into our hotel.
Friday afternoon we had a small rehearsal of how the ceremony would happen and then we took off for dinner at the Crazyweed. Then Travis and I parted ways. He went to Todd and Jenn's for the night and I went to the hotel with the girls.
The morning of the wedding I was up bright and early at 4:30am. And guess what I saw when I looked outside??? SNOW!! The first snowfall of the year to hit the ground in Canmore. Unbelievable.
However, as I have learned, when it comes to weddings, things always have a way of working themselves out and the snow was probably one of the best things that happened that day. Our pictures are going to look amazing.
I spent the morning of the wedding getting my hair done and hanging out in the hotel room with my girls, my mom, dad and grandma. It was the perfect way to spend the morning. My knees didn't start shaking till Dad and I were standing at the end of the aisle waiting for the music to start. Our ceremony was perfect and then we were married! We made our grand exit, went to get pictures taken then the reception was underway. I don't have any pictures of the ceremony or reception yet so check back in a week or so. I'll post them after the honeymoon.
Travis has gone back to work today and I'm home all week playing house wife. I think my first task will be organizing our gifts and getting our house back in order. Then we leave for sunny Mexico on Sunday!!!

Congrats Mr. & Mrs. Pinet! Glad your day was perfect :) Here's to many, many years of love and happYness!
Hey Mel! So looking forward to seeing the pictures (wedding and honeymoon!)
So glad the day turned out better than imagined!
All my love chicky
Enjoy the life of a wife (It has its perks haha!)
It was truly an amazing week! The kids were exhausted tonight (suffering from a bit of jet lag). Kaia in the middle of a melt-down (can't remember what the melt-down was about right now - but mostly about the fact that she was tired) - said in a loud whine "I WANNA GO BACK TO CANMORE". The seeds have been sewn!
Your wedding was PERFECTION! You were even more gorgeous than usual (and I didn't think that was possible!) - as was your groom (the now-famous and much loved "Uncle Travis"). The ceremony was spectacular - the setting, The Dress, the wedding party, the fire truck. The food was fantastic - Allison did an amazing job decorating the hall according to the master plan. The speeches were great! All in all, it was perfection. It was a joy and a priviledge to be there.
Now all we need is an annual event like your wedding (maybe an anniversary celebration!?!) every year in Canmore, or to win the lottery, or just get you guys to scoop us up one of those million dollar not-so-big houses for a few hundred thousand!! All in the name of keeping the girls close to their Auntie Mel, Uncle Travis, Auntie Sue and Ryan!!!!!! Oh ya, absent the lottery win, we'd need some jobs too (OK, Jeff would need a job, I'm pretty content with my current occupation of Director of Play, Constructor of Meals, and Master of Woman Powered Transportation (so a house with easy bike and double trailer access would also be a necessity).)
Kaia started back at school today - and was happy to get to ride on the school bus (even though it now pales in comparison to a fire truck). She did report that "My school is just for playing, they don't teach anything there, I still haven't learned my letters"! I think that Brad's older kids had her psyched for some sort of penal colony where she was tied to a desk and had to parrot letters ad nauseum. She did report that the toy fire trucks and school buses were back in her class room (they were lent to another class for a few weeks) - and she missed French because she had her picture taken (who knew school pictures happened so early?? good thing I managed to brush her hair prior to the mad dash for the bus!).
Kaia had her first skating lesson of the season today. It was HILARIOUS! She was awesome. She's taking Canskate lessons at the Minto Skating Club (a figure skating club in Ottawa). She easily mastered getting up by herself and toddling around slowly on the ice. I was amazed. She's pretty young - and the rest of her class spent most of the class lying on the ice. It was pretty fun to watch. Donald Jackson (a former Olympic Bronze medalist and World Champion) was one of the instructors - and at 67 years of age he was down there wiggling around on the ice with them! Gotta love people with a sense of fun! She has declared that she will figure skate and play hockey (Jeff is dying to raise a hockey player... so I'm not sure there's much choice in the second option!).
Congratulations, Mel & Travis :-)
*hugs*
Yaayayy... I'm really looking forward to see all your pictures whenever you get the chance. The snow - crazy! I saw another friend's pics who was married in Canmore, the same day I think. Snow looks sooo cool.
